It’s 2084. 17-year-old Kal has learned that the last survivors of an almost extinct humanity are gathering in the Acropolis of Athens to try to start over. During his journey and his stay in Athens Kal discovers cinema, a trace of a now buried past, and among deserts and flooded continents he will try to unearth that art to let it become a fossil.
Last Words is the last spasm of the Seventh art, that risks to have no more spectators. Released during the Covid-19 years and enriched by an exceptional cast (Nick Nolte, Charlotte Rampling, Alba Rohrwacher, Stellan Skarsgård), this film about the “last words” of human beings seeks art, communication and community as if exploring an archaeological excavation, revealing robust and precious foundations of propulsion to life even when all the other oasis have disappeared. The fate of humanity and cinema seem to coincide like never before.
