EFEBO D’ORO

The International Prize Efebo d’Oro was created in Agrigento, where it was held from 1979 to 2013, to award the best film based on a piece of literature and is promoted by the Centro di ricerca per la Narrativa e il Cinema.

After the first winner Un Borghese piccolo piccolo by Mario Monicelli starring Alberto Sordi, the list of prize-winning directors includes the most prestigious names in Italian and European cinema and bears witness to the cultural rigor of the event and the interest the relationship between the cinema and literature has kindled in almost all the most famous film-makers.

The horizons of the Prize broaden over time to include a section dedicated to television productions, which later became the New Languages Prize, awards for the Best Book dedicated to Cinema and Cinema Professions, with the aim of including different aspects of an evolving discipline.

Today Efebo d’Oro is a competition festival based in the City of Palermo. Each year a call for entryis published to join the pre-selection stage for the two main competing sections.
