ED'O 2018

The 40th edition will be celebrated with a special edition, rich in ideas, meetings and initiatives, such as the volume Cinema e letteratura. 40 anni dell’Efebo d’Oro, curated by Alberto Barbera and supported by Banca Popolare Sant’Angelo.

The theme of the relationship between novels and films is particularly effective in illustrating the transformation of artistic languages and the developments of their staging (André Gide would have call it mise en abyme). This is why the purpose of our festival today is to think about our present times. In the future, we will put together more and more great films based on a literary work and artworks of ‘all-round’ artists which cannot be pigeon-holed in a genre or definition.

MASTERCLASS

The Center for Narrative and Cinema Research, in collaboration with the Experimental Center of Cinematography in Sicily, in the year of Palermo Capitale of the Culture, presents Peter Greenaway Masterclass: the art of filmmaking. On the occasion of the presence of Peter Greenaway at the Efebo d’Oro Festival to receive the Efebo New Languages – City of Palermo, we will host a masterclass dedicated to professionals, students and enthusiasts.

A journey into the art of one of the masters of world cinema, through the analysis of the gaze of the camera, the elements of editing and film composition. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the Welsh director, and get to know with him the theoretical, practical and technical foundations that characterize his work.

Subscribers will have the opportunity to interact with Peter Greenaway and to use the English / Italian simultaneous translation service. At the end of the masterclass, a certificate of participation signed by the director will be issued.
