TheEfebo d’Oro New Languages – City of Palermo is awarded this year to the video artist Gianluca Abbate “for the coherence of research in the context of contaminations between different languages – animation, collage, found footage – inserted and reworked with expertise and technological innovation, not separated from a very effective collaboration with poets and musicians, also developing themes of great communicative effectiveness».

Author of experimental films, Gianluca Abbate, with Panorama (2014) wins the Silver Ribbon for best animated short film in 2016, numerous awards obtained over the years in various festivals (Torino Film Festival, Videoformes – International Festival of Videoart and Digital Arts of Clermont-Ferrand, Italian Visions – Bologna, Genoa Film Festival). His works have been shown in numerous museums and exhibition spaces. He taught new technologies of cinema and television at the Civic School of Cinema in Milan and graphic design at the European Institute of Design in Rome. He collaborates with various communication agencies around the world and is the author of various graphic identities of Rai programs.
