Bringing the past into contact with the present. Finding focus in a frame that must understand the world. These are the ambitions of a group of woman of the present times, gathered to recite the texts and thoughts of Carla Lonzi, art critic and foundress of the publishing house Rivolta Femminile in 1970. Lonzi’s reflections about Les Précieuses, a group of proto-feminists of seventeenth century, allows us to create further bridges between female voices that throughout history have often been out of place, decentralized, lateral, from Stephanie Oursler to Adriana Monti, from Maria Grazia Chinese to Artemisia Gentileschi.
Constanze Ruhm, multidisciplinary artist, conceives her latest work as a proliferation of artistic and reflective directions, like theatre, literature, cinema, performance art, opening up to freedom of thought and sensation. The result is a collage that has the courage not to take refuge in the evidence of a linear reasoning, but to find the complex questions in an archaeological exploration of the “traces” of women of history.
