Le belle estati
The Beautiful Summers

MOVIE CATEGORY
Pesaro students from Liceo Artistico Mengaroni are invited to re-interpret two novels by Cesare Pavese, La bella estate and Il diavolo in collina, with the aim of giving those characters a voice, that’s perhaps new, and a meaning, which is as valid today as yesterday. Discovery of sex, male friendship, youth melancholy, become all a mirror of a contemporary youth which, almost as in a ritual, exits from its present time and finds the essential center of its emotions.
Mauro Santini translates Pavese through films, with bodies that incarnate written words; thus his tracking shots, his pans and his close-ups become the lines of a book, and the voice over sculpts the times and the tones of the written prose.
The movie was already presented in Palermo during Sicilia Queer filmfest (May 2024), where he was awarded by the “Circuito Festival Jury” composed by Morena Faverin (Lago Film Fest), Maria Vittoria Pellecchia (Laceno d’Oro FF), Alessandro Rais (Efebo d’Oro FF), with the aim to further promote independent movies which are less competitive in terms of distribution: therefore the movie is screened in Efebo d’Oro 2024.
