The biography of Guido Crepax, a well-known Italian comics artist who reached success in the 1960s and died in 2003, could have begun from the artistic life of his father, who was principal cellist at the Scala Theatre, or from his success as a graphic designer, which earned him the Palme d’Or for advertising. Cercando Valentina, on the contrary,
presents him through his best known character, Valentina, who was initially given only a secondary role to then become, in the years that followed, a true icon
of mystery, seduction, imagination
and eroticism. She reminded of Louise Brooks, only sketched through captivating details, by breaking down the drawing and focusing on a detail which then becomes revealing of a state of mind. By observing his creature (Valentina), it becomes
possible to unveil dreams and obsessions of Crepax, her ‘creator’.

In 1941, a Lithuanian man kills
Isaac, his Jewish neighbor, during the infamous Lietukis garage massacre,
one of the first acts of the Holocaust carried out not by Germans but by Lithuanians. Twenty-five years later, in Soviet Lithuania, the director Gediminas Gutauskas returns from the United States with a new script for a film describing in detail the massacre of the Lietukis garage and in particular the killing of the Jewish man Isaac. The script later came to the attention of the KGB, which started investigating.
Based on the novel by Antanas Škėma, the film of the emerging director Jurgis Matulevičius explores the post-war sense of guilt, war traumas and experiences of the exile in an engaging film rich of surprises.

“Working less, working all”.
This is the idea from which Gianluca Abbate and Lello Voce developed their concept. It was a signature slogan during the
political unrest in Italy in 1977 and it is still relevant in a world where human labour and technological progress are trying to
coexist with mixed results. So, the poem Il lavoro cieco, written and played by Lello Voce and published in Il fiore inverso, takes life in the latest work by Abbate. Through images and sequences created by combining collage and digital animation techniques,
the director manages to express the wish for emancipation and freedom of contemporary workers as human beings.
